This blog was started once upon a time when a young girl at school didnt know better but thought otherwise. So the way earlier entries can be crass and words inappropriate so please don't judge. As now the person has evolved into someone older and wiser (hopefully) ..:.... But some of the entries were classic and hilarious so I don't have the heart to delete them :@ Well we were all young (read:wild) once, right?

Can you sing and act? If so, you may be the one we're looking for!

You are invited to audition for a number of Exciting Original Musicals for a presentation on the 10 March 2007 at the Esplanade Rehearsal Room.

The musicals will be judged by a star studded panel of judges (D.ick Lee, Ivan Heng, Beatrice Chia, Michael Chiang, Just to name a few.) for selection as a part of the Singapore Arts Festival fringe at The Esplanade Recital Studio 9-10 June 2007.

Please prepare TWO BROADWAY SONGS (One slow/ One Fast) that will show your RANGE and EXPRESSION. These songs are to be sung acapella or accompanied by your own minus one. Bring along a photograph (any photo will do) and your bio-data/resume if possible.


Audition slots are booked on a first come first serve basis, so call early before slots are filled up!

GEORGETTE
Writer: Ng Yi Sheng Composer: Clement Yang
A biography of Georgette Chen, the pioneer Singapore artist, as she struggles to be accepted as a painter in a time of prejudice and war.

Georgette, our heroine, the young Georgette Chen, a petite but intelligent artist in her 20s and 30s.
Eugene Chen, Georgette’s first husband, a diplomat, who is portrayed from his 40s to his 50s. (For the purposes of the readthrough, he will also read for Revolutionary 1)
Mr Zhang, Georgette's father, a businessman in his 60s.
Mrs Zhang, Georgette's stepmother, a businesswoman in her 40s.
Narrator/Official/French Customer/Revolutionary 2, A woman, who plays various speaking roles.
Auctioneer/Waiter/Translator, A man, who plays various speaking roles.



YOSHIDA-SAN
Writer/Composer: Lee Tse Mei
A musical set in World War Two and the decade following the war, about a Japanese guard and how he meets the woman of his dreams in a concentration camp in Java.

Yoshida-san, 21 to 31, A Japanese guard in a concentration camp. The character needs to age by 10 years in the course of the story. An intelligent, earnest character who is a maverick at heart and a true romantic. Ideally, a Japanese or Asian who is able to adopt a neutral English accent.
Avery Forrester, 27 to 37, Lead female. A British prisoner-of-war in a concentration camp. The character needs to age by 10 years. A feisty, strong, very idealistic and endlessly optimistic character who has big dreams and the determination needed to fulfill them. Ideally, a British or someone who is able to portray a British character.
Genichi, 21 to 31, Supporting Male Lead. The best friend of Yoshida. A practical, down-to-earth laidback Japanese who is comfortable with himself, more able to accept and reconcile things as they are in the world. Ideally, a Japanese or Asian who is able to portray a neutral English accent.
